摘要
Wind turbines are commonly installed offshore where the steadier and faster wind speed is located compared to onshore. Among other environmental reasons, higher wind speeds results in more extracted power which makes the offshore option preferable. In this setting, AC transmission to the shore has many drawbacks including high losses. For offshore wind farms, it turns out that High Voltage AC (HVAC) has another contender which could be far more viable and beneficial which is High Voltage DC (HVDC). This Paper presents a literature overview on the configurations of HVDC wind farms with an emphasis on a series connected wind farms as an alternative candidate configuration for offshore wind applications.
