The European Space Agency ERS-1 and ERS-2 C-band VV-polarization instruments (AMI) offer the unique ability to combine interlaced scatterometer and SAR wave modes. This collocation has already led to significant results in terms of Wave Mode imagette calibration and azimuth cutoff analysis. Here, we present the validation of an empirical calibration method and a SAR wind speed retrieval algorithm based on azimuth cutoff analysis. In addition, the SAR variance analysis is proposed to improve SAR modulation transfer functions (MTF) estimations.
