Supercooling during crystallization of a fusible component in Cu/(Bi-Sn) multilayer films

摘要
Using two independent in situ techniques, we have studied the supercooling during the Bi-Sn alloy crystallization in Cu/(Bi-Sn) films over the entire concentration range of the components. It has been determined that the relative supercooling value increases rapidly with the tin concentration increase, but starting from a concentration of 5 wt% Sn it acquires a value of about 0.23 melting point, which is maintained to a concentration of 80 wt% Sn. The constancy of the supercooling temperature observed in this concentration range indicates that the formation of a crystalline nucleus in a supercooled melt occurs without changing the composition of the alloy.
