Four gymnosperm wood taxa from the Upper Permian Yaguari Formation from several localities between Meio and Frayle Muerto, Department of Cerro Large, Uruguay, are described. References to Ararrcauiaxylon and Baieroxylon are based on typical characters of their secondary wood. Barakaroxylon, a widely distributed genus in Gondwana and a new species Bageopitys herbstii, are described and illustrated based on rather complete specimens. All these Paleozoic woods are common in different parts of Gondwana, viz., Brazil, Uruguay, South Africa, India and Australia.
