Performance Characterization of Monolithically Integrated mmW Phased Arrays

摘要
We present initial characterization of a novel, mono-lithically integrated multilayer mmW phased array architecture that can be seamlessly incorporated with large-scale fabrication of transceiver chipsets. Exhibiting an estimated radiation efficiency over 60% for the impedance bandwidth covering 3575 GHz band, the ultra-wideband array topology offers a cost-effective realization with much improved on-chip performance. Moreover, the proposed array is an ideal candidate for conformal and mobile applications thanks to its low profile with the overall height of 500 mu m and on-chip footprint of 7mm x 3mm, exhibiting 5 dB realized gain.
