摘要
the Yellow River is believed as the mother of the whole Chinese nation, who is nurturing thousands of Chinese people. However, the Yellow River has become the aboveground river because of sediment deposition and the flooding has brought severe disasters to the people on both sides. Since 2001, in order to control the Yellow River, the Yellow River water sediment regulation made the main channel in downstream to be scoured completely and had generally improved its over current capacity, sediment transport capacity, sediment discharged from which reservoir prolongs its life, increased wetland area and improved the estuarine ecosystem. All these work were the first complete use of many reservoir infrastructures and modern technology productions on the basis of the previous the Yellow River' s management experience. We should continue to promote and develop the water sediment regulation, carry out the lower Yellow River management in an all round way, more sand blocked engineering construction in the Loess Plateau and Western water diversion from the source water measures to solve the "sediment" and "hanging river" problem of the Yellow River, to ensure the safety of the Yellow River every year and realize the continuous flow of it, so as to maintain the healthy life of the river.
