A Dialogue with "The Raven": Reflections upon a Pedagogy Experience of Ensemble Classes in Elementary Education

This essay reflects upon an experience of Ensemble Classes that took place in an elementary school, with inexperienced students that, departing from an Anglophone poetic text to be declaimed in public, as a work of Literature, reached as a result, the performance of a musical piece that created an adequate musical atmosphere to the poem, enabling in its pedagogy pathway a multidisciplinary pedagogical cooperation of Literature, Music, Drama and Fine Arts faculty that, in offering to Music and Literature apprentices distinct perspectives, based on their specific knowledge, broadened the active construction of knowledge in diversity and depth. Successful experiences of composer Bernard Herrmann in the field of film music, specially his collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock, served as inspiration for this creative accomplishment that, departing from a music structure previously established by the instructor, allowed the students the collective experience of guided ludic musical improvisation without, however, losing sight of the sense of the resulting aesthetical discourse.
