摘要
Franchising as a type of entrepreneurial activity to develop a nation's economy has been receiving continuous attention. In today's business world, many firms have adopted franchising as an important strategy, giving aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to own and operate a business venture. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between intrinsic motivation and franchise start-up intentions among Malaysians. A total of 386 participants participated in this survey. Intrinsic motivation was investigated over five subscales: Interest/Enjoyment, Perceived Competence, Perceived Choice, Effort and Value/Usefulness. Entrepreneurial start-up intentions examined four subscales: Business Involvement, Business Attitude, Pressure, and Control. From the results obtained, it was found that there were mixed findings of the significant relationship between intrinsic motivation and franchising entrepreneurial start-up intentions. Since franchising from intrinsic motivation and entrepreneurial startup intentions perspective remain an underexplored area, more research is needed to improve the predictive value of franchise intentions.
