摘要
A significant amount of current oil production in India comes from the matured fields. Insufficient discovery of new oil and gas fields raises a momentous issue for the demand of energy supply irrespective of significant fluctuation of oil price. Therefore, to meet this growing and continuing global crude oil demand, innovative enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques are required to emerge and currently implemented ones need to be revisited. This paper presents a strategic review on the current status of oil production and future prospect of implementation of EOR methods in depleted oil reservoirs in India. Specifically, this paper emphasizes on the enhanced oil and gas recovery (EOGR) policy approved by the Government of India on October 2018 and its implementation in coming 10 years. Furthermore, the current status of oil recovery in India, fields under EOR operation, challenges of EOR in India, advantages and future prospects of EOR in India and a brief description of EOR methods are discussed as an overview of oil production scenario in India. Our analysis and assessment revealed that enhanced recovery screening and its implementation will add significant value to India's energy economy and lower the crude oil import.
