摘要：
An analysis of European research projects has identified different design support strategies as well as different levels of complexity concerning the managed product knowledge in design support systems. The paper explores the methods to classify the engineering knowledge attached to a product. It gives a brief overview of existing and implemented approaches, the relevant techniques known from knowledge management and introduces the human intellectual capacity in form of memory structures and phsychological inter relationships in problem solving. This results into instruments to classify engineering knowledge and into requirements for a model of strategic knowledge in design.
