Using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave method, we explored the magnetization and magnetic ordering of Co doped ZnO. Energetically Co prefers nonuniform distribution and antiferromagnetic ordering. Both Zn and O display measurable x-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectra. (C) 2005 American Institute of Physics.
