Role of Surfactant on the Ferromagnetic Properties of (Li, Mn) Doped ZnO Nanoparticles: An EPR Study

摘要
Nanoparticles of Zn(0.96)Mn(0.03)Li(0.01)O were synthesized by a low-temperature solid-state pyrolitic reaction, followed by a surfactant (AOT)-assisted calcination at 675 K. Transmission electron microscopy images and Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction data revealed that these samples are monophasic with wurtzite structure. DC magnetization measurements of surfactant treated Zn(0.96)Mn(0.03)Li(0.01)O nanoparticles showed enhanced ferromagnetism compared to that of the untreated Zn(0.96)Mn(0.03)Li(0.01)O nanoparticles. A distinct ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) signal observed in the EPR spectra of AOT treated Zn(0.96)Mn(0.03)Li(0.01)O nanoparticles further confirmed its ferromagnetic nature.
