摘要
This paper describes a new image-guided dental implant planning and treatment system. The system bases on X-ray projection images instead of tomographic data. These X-ray images are acquired with a standard intraoral X-ray unit and a digital dental CCD sensor. Like in known dental navigation systems, the patient and the drilling instrument are optically tracked. For this system, additionally passive optical trackers are attached to the CCD sensor and the X-ray unit to get information of the position and orientation of the acquired images. Because of the new kind of image data generation, the system introduces a new workflow compared to other dental planning systems. This workflow is adapted for the work with projection images and includes the step of acquiring image itself. (C) 2003 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
