摘要
A novel series of 2-amino-4-aryl-7,7-dimethyl-5-oxo-1-(phenylamino)-1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinoline-3-carbonitrile derivatives has been designed using aryl aldehydes, 5,5-dimethyl-3-(2-phenylhydrazinyl)cyclohex-2-enone (phenylhydrazone of dimedone) and malononitrile with piperidine at room temperature. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been well elucidated by various spectroscopic techniques and X-ray crystal diffraction studies. Selected compounds have also been evaluated for their antibacterial activities against human pathogenic bacteria.
