摘要
The mechanism of heat and moisture-induced yellowing of ECF-light (where chlorine dioxide was substitute By hydrogen peroxide) bleached hardwood kraft pulp (HBKP) was studied. It was found that there were at least two stages in yellowing: the first stage was more strongly affected by heat than moisture, and the second was influenced more by moisture than heat. The first stage was assumed to be the hydrolysis of hexenuronic acid (HekA) to 2-furancarboxylic acid (FA) and 5-formyl-2-furoic acid (FF). The ageing test (80 degrees C, 65% rh), where the HexA derivatives (FA, FF and metal ions) were added to hand-sheets of the HBKP, revealed that FF influenced yellowing. It showed that FF reacted with the components of pulp in the second stage.
