Preparation and characterization of a novel laminated magnetic hydroxyapatite for application on gene delivery

摘要
Two-dimensional layered materials exhibit desired functionalities when being used as gene delivery materials. In this study, a novel gene vector, laminated magnetic hydroxyapatite (LM-HAp), is synthesized through a templating method in situ. The prepared LM-HAp is characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and vibrating-sample magnetometry (VSM) analysis. The obtained data reveals that the LM-HAp exhibits an ordered laminated structure with ad spacing of 3.14 nm. Fe3O4 nanoparticles distribute uniformly on each of the HAp platelets. Moreover, LM-HAp possesses superparamagnetic property and exhibits a rapid response to an external magnetic field. The saturation magnetization of LM-HAp is 13.5 emu/g. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V.
