摘要：
This paper presents the first results of the Vegetation Continuous Fields (VCF) algorithm from the MODIS land cover suite of products. The 500 meter VCF layers represent a marked advance in the global mapping of land cover. The moderate resolution these data fills an intermediate step between high and coarse resolution data and the spatial information gained is significant.
