The change of Tconset in YBa2Cu3O7-y due to hydrogenation

The temperature dependence of the thermoelectric power of ceramic specimens of the HxYBa2Cu3O7-y system has been examined. The oxygen deficiency was in the 0.075 < y < 0.445 range and hydrogen content in the 0.08 < x < 0.30 range. Both the deoxygenation and the hydrogenation decreased T-c and T-c(onset), and increased the thermoelectric power towards more positive values. The rate of suppression of T-c by the hydrogenation is higher or the same as that by the deoxygenation when z less than or equal to 0.23, where z = x/2 + y. In the other case, we have observed the weaker than above suppression of T-c. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
