摘要
Results of a computational fluid dynamic simulation of the flow and heat transfer characteristics of a single axis-symmetric semi-confined laminar jet impinging normally on a plane wall are presented for purely viscous power law fluids. Effects of Reynolds number, jet exit velocity and nozzle-to-impingement target spacing are presented for several CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose) solutions in water which behave as power law fluids. At a fixed generalized Reynolds number for power law fluids, it is shown that decreasing the power law index (more departure from Newtonian fluid properties) will increase the magnitude of the Nusselt number, mainly attributed to the increasing of jet exit velocity. On the other hand, at the fixed jet exit velocity, Nusselt numbers remain unchanged, regardless of the changes in Reynolds number, as well as the CMC concentration. (C) 2004 Elsevier Science Ltd.
