Distance learning through technology: A faculty and students' perspective

摘要
Most k-12 teachers have never enrolled in an online course and they have never experienced teaching a portion of the course virtually. By experiencing first hand what is involved in teaching an online course, most develop a whole new appreciation for the student learning process. This paper summarizes the instructional strategies involved when analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating an online course from the faculty member's perspective. The paper also summarizes the structure of the course, assignments, discussion board, and trends in education from the student's perspective. In summary, it concludes with the faculty's overall perspective after teaching the course and how the course could be more effective for the student.
