Groin cystic lymphangioma: case report and literature review

Introduction: To present a clinical case and to carry out a review of the literature on the most relevant aspects of this rare pathology. We present a cystic lymphangioma in an adult woman who debuts as an asymptomatic groin mass as well as her management and surgical indication along with an updated review of the literature. Case report: Cystic lymphangiomas are a rare benign hamartomatous malformation with a low prevalence. Its presentation in adults, as well as the groin localization without abdominal and/or retroperitoneal extension makes exceptional this case. Discussion: The absence of pathognomonic signs poses a diagnostic challenge, owing to being present in the differential diagnosis of inguinal tumors. Furthermore, the absence of standardized protocols hinders their subsequent handling and monitoring and raises the need for radiological controls.
