Synthesis and crystal structure of a novel three-dimensional network crown ether complex (Bu4N) {[K(18-C-6)][Cd4(dmit)2(dmt)3]}

A novel 18-crown-6 (18-C-6) complex, (Bu4N){[K(18-C-6)][Cd-4(dmit)(2)(dmt)(3)]} (dmit = 4,5- dimercapto-1,3-dithiole-2-thione, dmt = 4,5-dimereapto-1,2-dithiole-3-thione, C3S52-) (1), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum and, X-ray diffraction analysis. The complex belongs to monoclinic, space group C2/c with cell dimensions, a = 3.4780(7) nm, b = 1.5170(3) nm, c = 2.8440(6) nm, beta = 105.93(3)degrees, V = 14.427(3) nm(3), Z = 8, F(000) = 7872, R-1 = 0.0425, wR(2) = 0.0739. The complex is composed of one Bu4N+ cation and one {[K(18-C-6)][Cd-4(dmit)(2)(dmt)(3)]}(-) complex anion. In the crystal, {[K(18-C-6)][Cd-4(dmit)(2)(dmt)(3)]}(-) complex anions show a three-dimensional network structure bridged by (KS)-S-... and (SS)-S-... weak interactions.
