摘要：

A brief history of the electrical insulation conference (EIC) is presented. The EIC's inception was driven by advances in polymer technology. Many practical questions regarding the application of polymers in electric insulation were answered in the forum provided by the EIC. The EIC technical program and the accompanying trade show furnished an exchange of information that enabled suppliers and users to improve their product.
