Innovation Performance Measurement: A Quantitative Systematic Literature Review

The focus of this paper is on the evolution of innovation performance measurement. There is a growing interest in innovation measurement among innovation management researchers. Nevertheless, there is a lack of work that summarize the current understanding of the topic and provide recommendations for further research. The content of a total of 356 innovation measurement related articles is analyzed. The use of a quantitative method in the literature review is an original contribution to evolving methodologies. The quantitative analysis of innovation measurement literature leads to the identification of the main issues investigated by scholars in the last 30 years. Thus, the paper assesses the structure of the innovation measurement field to support scholars and practitioners to understand the current and future direction of innovation measurement literature.
