摘要
Inspection is a very important activity in a manufacturing process. One of the main obstacles in industrial automation is the difficulty in automating the inspection process. Vision systems are used in many inspection activities including non-contact measurement This has the potential of producing enormous benefits for the industry but the vision applications did not expand at the rate predicted by some researchers. This is because the commercially available systems have limited ability and are non-flexible in nature. Against this background a knowledge based vision system has been developed which takes a novel approach to help producing multi-dimensional measurements. For any system consistency in measurement is very important. This paper discusses the effect on the measurement accuracy of the knowledge based vision system due to the variation of object location while the object distance remains unchanged.
