摘要
This paper illustrates the advantages that the new generation of satellite networks can offer for the provision of long-distance Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connections, being able to obtain very high delivery rate, together with an efficient utilisation of the satellite bandwidth, thanks to on-board features like (i) Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation and (ii) per Flow Switching. The EuroSkyWay (ESW) network has been adopted as study case. Based upon the mathematical framework of the Network Calculus, the dimensioning of the ESW network nodes for optimal TCP performance is provided and the analytical result are verified by means of software simulations.
