Based on literature review, survey and mathematic statistics, this research has analyzed the physical quality of 1147 undergraduate students of Grade 2004 in 4 Jiangxi universities. The research found that when entering university, the sample students were at lower level of weight, chest circumference and vital capacity than their peers nationwide (n=5680). After one academic year of physical health education, these students have various degrees of improvement. Male sample students improved a lot on weight and vital capacity, while females improved a lot on weight and chest circumferences. In the 4(th) year of college study, their indicators improved but were still lower than national average level. As to physical quality, when these students entered universities, there were no distinct differences between them and their peers nation-wide in 50 meters, 1000 meters and 800 meters running, but there were distinct differences in standing long jump, sit-ups, and pull-ups. Compared to that in the 1(st) year of college life, the students had obvious improvement on physical fitness in the 2(nd) year. But in the 4(th) year, indicators of their physical fitness had no significant changes in contrast with those in the 2(nd) year. Therefore, China's higher education institutions should strengthen systematic physical education, including extra-curricular physical exercises, and establish the concept of "lifelong physical development", so as to contribute more to China's development.
