摘要
The drinking water supply in the Berlin metropolitan region is based on bank infiltration of approximately 70 %. Drinking water treatment consists only of aeration and subsequent rapid sand filtration in order to remove iron and manganese. With regard to the increasing amounts of persistent organic and inorganic components in the surface water, there is a significant need in surveying the infiltration processes in order to achieve a sustainable drinking water quality. Hence, several investigations were done on instructions of the Administration of Urban Development, Environmental Protection and Technology to predict changes in drinking water quality because of the expected decreasing run-off of the river spree. All investigations showed that most sewage water compounds reach the drinking water wells. Some of them change their chemical behavior caused by the fluctuation of water table.
