Study of Extremely Low Frequency Electromagnetic Wave Propagation along the Seashore of Bajiaogang in Shandong, China

Great attention has been paid to the extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic waves due to its important application in long-distance communication, undersea detection and guidance. Most previous researches, however, focus on the propagation characteristics of VLF/ELF signal conducted by earth-ionosphere or undersea water. This paper endeavors to study the ELF wave propagation travellin along the seashore. To achieve this, an experiment is designed: high sensitive conducted magnetometers are adopted to capture the ELF signal produced by a pair of electrodes submerged in the sea-water along the coast. The results showed that for 5 Hz and 10 Hz the trend agreed with the normal logarithm function, but with a pecularity of peak at around 550 m.
