摘要
LGBTQthorn asylum seekers often face persecution and discrimination, leading to escape from their native countries to places like the United States, where LGBTQ+ identity is grounds for asylum. This study qualitatively examined the pre- and post-migration experiences of this population. The authors utilized a phenomenological approach and conducted semi-structured interviews with eight participants. Results yielded five themes and six subthemes. Themes included pre-migration trauma, post-migration trauma, mental and behavioral health impacts of trauma, isolation and fear, and survival and resilience. A discussion of findings is included, along with implications of the study and future research recommendations.
