摘要
An ultrasonic guided wave simulation toolbox is being developed for virtual inspection of composite plates. The simulation tool currently consists of two major components: first is the guided wave dispersion curve and mode shape calculation module, which is a prerequisite for defect inspection simulation. The module output includes guided wave phase velocity, group velocity, displacement, stress, and skew angle. Second, Finite element (FE) simulation is carried out for guided waves inspection with various types of defects in the composite plate. Piezoelectric material is also modeled in the FE module to simulate actual ultrasonic transducers. The output of the FEM analysis module gives users the response of guided waves impinging into those defects.
