Thermodynamic features of gelation in concentrated solutions of methyl cellulose

摘要
Thermodynamic features of gelation of methyl cellulose in concentrated solutions in water and dimethylacetamide were studied hy the sorption method over the temperature range 10-120 degreesC. The phase diagrams of solutions were plotted, and the temperature and concentration dependences of the sorption enthalpy and entropy were determined. The Flory-Huggins polymer-solvent interaction parameter and its entropy anti enthalpy constituents were determined. A mechanism of formation of new phases in the systems studied due to changes in the polymer-solvent interaction parameter and its constituents was inferred.
