摘要
Nickel-based superalloy is an attractive material as turbine engine components in aerospace industry, but low machining efficiency and poor machinability have further hindered it to be widely employed in potential applications. Cubic boron nitride (cBN), possessing extreme hardness and chemical inertness, is the potential candidate as tools to machine superalloys. In this work, we attempt to explain the disparities in wear and friction behaviors of various-binder cBN tools by performing high-speed turning Inconel 718. Tool wears both the rake face and flank face are systematically analyzed. Friction coefficients between cBN and Inconel 718 were determined. Tool flank temperature distributions with different flank wear (VB) were visually presented by FEM simulations.
