摘要
The influence of EFP solidity on the depth of penetration was experimentally and numerically investigated. It could be found that the effect of the transition from solid to hollow EFP penetration on the Depth of Penetration(DoP) depends on the impact velocity while at lower solidities there is a nearly linear relation between solidity and maximum penetration depth. The further evaluation showed a significant increase in penetration performance per mass unit with decreasing solidity of the EFP. A closer investigation of the penetration process revealed that for EFPs with a solidity <= 80% the penetration process can be simplified to planar penetration of the hollow EFP wall. This finding can be applied as a basic approach to analytical modeling.
