Mucus production of nasal epithelium in ovalbumin-sensitized allergic rats

摘要
To elucidate the mechanisms of mucus hypersecretion, we produced ovalbumin(OVA)-sensitized allergic rats as an animal model of nasal allergy. Intranasal instillation of OVA induced hypertrophic and metaplastic changes of goblet cells and intraepithelial mucus production in nasal epithelium of OVA-sensitized rats. The effects of H1-antagonist, H2-antagonist, dexamethasone, indomethacin, and cysLTs (leukotrienes, LT C-4, D-4)-antagonist, ONO1078, on mucus production of these allergic rats were examined, and compared with lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-induced mucus production.
