摘要
This paper presents different techniques to "traffic engineer" a network to effectively utilize the available resources by separating traffic flows into multiple trunks. Understanding the behavior of different types of flows is done by setting paths in a Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) domain with the help of MPLS test bed on Pentium PCs running Linux and using open software. The paper shows that it is necessary to examine the flows in a MPLS network before setting up paths from a Traffic Engineering point of view. It also shows that proper planning with respect to mapping similar traffic types onto the same label switched path (LSP) will give a better performance than mapping different traffic types on to the same LSP.
