The characteristics and performance of the continuous feeding (of the whole amount or one part) of the entrainer for the heteroazeotropic rectification are studied. The rigorous simulation calculations are made by a professional simulator (CCBATCH) for the separation of a mixture of low relative volatility (dichloromethane-acetone + water as heterogeneous entrainer), a maximum (water-ethylenediamine + benzene) and a minimum azeotrope (isopropanol-water + benzene). The results are compared with those of the traditional batch addition of the entrainer.
