摘要
Technical difficulties, developmental time, and uncertainties about effective format and presentation style are some of the major barriers that hinder widespread incorporation of computer-assisted instruction into clinical laboratory educational programs. During the last decade, organizational schemes have emerged that expedite the developmental process. Furthermore, format guidelines have been established that provide a framework for creating effective presentation styles, and recent advances in authorship programs have simplified the computer-entry process. Considering all of these factors, construction of computer-assisted instruction (CAI) applications has become a viable method to meet the demands of academia, continuing education, and new employee orientation in a cost-and time-efficient manner. This article reviews the issues and factors that should be considered before beginning such a project.
