The hydrous alumina powders were fabricated using aluminum alkoxides as raw materials by sol-gel method. The effect of the mol ratio of aluminum alkoxides to H2O (in brief, R) and the hydrolysis temperature on the hydrous alumina powders was studied. The hydrous alumina powders were analyzed and characteristiced by TEM, XRD and IR. The results showed that R had greatly effect on the morphology and particle size of the hydrous alumina. When R was 1:1 or 1:50, the hydrous alumina powders were amorphous and agglomerant; when R was 1:3, the hydrous alumina powders were crystal and good dispersing. Under the condition of the same R value, the hydrous alumina powders were easily fabricated at 80 degrees C than that at 60 degrees C.
