The growing economy in the Peoples Republic of China coincides with the further demand for electric capacity. One of the main contributors for electric energy conversion is coal. A number of environmental subjects are associated with the application of coal. During the past, the main focus in the power plant industry was directed on the reduction of NOx, SOx and particulate matter emissions. Since for environmental reasons, the CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere became a major issue, a new emphasis and effort is directed to the reduction of CO2 emissions of power plant systems. For coal fired systems, the high steam parameters are the key issue to increase the plant efficiency and thus to reduce the emissions of CO2 besides the benefit of fuel savings. This demands the once-through boiler technology. The biggest plant in China, with 2 x 900 MW, is based on this technology. This power plant is described in more details within the scope of this paper.
