摘要
Hypoglycemia not recognized clinically or by self-monitoring of blood glucose impacts diabetes care. Using continuous glucose monitoring system, we studied frequency and magnitude of hypoglycemia in 40 adult male insulin treated Type1 diabetes (T1 DM) and Type2 diabetes (T2 DM) patients. DM duration and daily insulin dose were not different between 2 groups. 63% of T2DM and 52 % of T1DM demonstrated hypoglycemic events. T1DM had hypoglycemia for 17 % of total monitored time vs. 6.4% of the time for T2DM. In T2 subjects, 67 % hypoglycemic episodes were at night (21:00-9:00h) and 33% between 8:00 -21:00 h. Corresponding values were 60% and 40% for T1 DM patients. Compared to T1 DM hypoglycemic patients, T2 DM hypoglycemic patients had greater BMI 31.1 +/- 5.5 vs. 26.6 +/- 4; Age 65 +/- 9.1 vs. 50 +/- 40yrs; serum creatinine 1.6 +/- 0.8 vs. 1.1 +/- 0.2 mg/dl (P < 0.05 or less).
