THE CONCEPT OF "DIGNITY" OF THE HUMAN BEINGS IN BIOETHICS AND BIOLAW (II)

This paper intends to be a necessary addition concerning the approach of rights related to the dignity of the human being. A quite recent proposal formulated by the doctrine envisaged the supplementation of the sets of human rights with another one, the rights to dignity of the person against the abuses of the science. The invoked arguments regard the scientific progress which can involve the roots of life, produce significant modifications to humans and can jeopardize the species itself pushing the scientific curiosity beyond the accepted boundaries. But we believe that dignity must be understood in relation with the principles stated in the universal declaration and with human rights as they are consecrated, the main idea being that of an effective protection.
