Phase transitions of Cs2MnBr4

摘要
Crystal growth of CS2MnBr4 was performed by using the Bridgman method, and the phase transitional properties were investigated by using differential thermal analysis (DTA) and dielectric constant measurements. The as-grown crystal was found to undergo a first-order phase transition at around 365 K and to show a broad dielectric anomaly at around 120 K. Furthermore, the phase above 365 K could be supercooled into the low-temperature region. In the supercooled phase, at least two dielectric anomalies were found, one at around 145 K and the other at around 110 K, which were probably related to the phase transitions. By comparing the already reported data for CS2CdI4 and CS2ZnI4, we concluded that the structures of the phases below and above 365 K were monoclinic Sr2CeS4-type and orthorhombic beta-K2SO4-tyPe structures, respectively.
