摘要
A nickel(II) complex that contains a tridentate SNS ligand was prepared in 67% yield. The tridentate ligand coordinates through one nitrogen and two sulfur donor atoms and is based on a bis- imidazole precursor. The tridentate SNS ligands incorporate pyridine and thione-substituted imidazole moieties. The complex was characterized using single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, ESI-mass spectrometry, NMR (H-1, C-13{H-1} and HSQC) spectroscopy and UV-Visible spectroscopy. The nickel(II) complex is a dimer with chloro bridging ligands. Interestingly, the corresponding zinc(II), copper(I), and cobalt(II) complexes, which have been reported previously, are monomers, with coordination numbers ranging from three to five.
