EPR study of the cure and phase separation in epoxy-amine system with modifying additive

摘要
The processes of curing and phase formation in an epoxy-amine system (bisphenol A diglycidyl ester cured with cycloaliphatic diamine), containing 0-17 vol % additives of a poly(oxypropylene glycol diacrylate) oligomer, were studied by methods of calorimetry, viscometry, and light scattering and by the spin-label and spin-probe EPR techniques. It was found that the EPR spectra reveal the onset of phase separation in the system before it is manifested in the light scattering spectra. The EPR spectroscopy also revealed a process of secondary phase formation following the gel formation and demonstrated the presence of kinetic inhomogeneity in the pure epoxy-amine system.
