摘要
Marital status and race play pivotal roles in the depiction of occupations on television. Men's work is unrelated to marital status. Married women have fewer options and remain in traditional female jobs while single women have gender-neutral or traditionally male jobs. Fewer non-whites than whites are professionals while proportionally more non-whites have law enforcement jobs. Compared to the U. S. labor force, professionals and law enforcement agents are over-represented while managerial jobs, laborers, and service workers are under-represented.
