IMPORTANCE OF ASSERTIVE COMMUNICATION IN THE NURSE-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP. EDUCATIONAL STRATEGY FOR NURSING CAREER STUDENTS

Communication as part of human interaction is a fundamental strategy in health care systems and nursing care to inform and influence decision-making that improves health and well-being. Communication skills are an integral part of the entire nursing process, taking into account the influence exerted by the nurse through communication techniques to help people modify attitudes and behaviors to improve well-being conditions. Assertive behavior when communicating favors feeling and making others feel happy. The importance of assertive communication in the nurse-patient relationship has been the subject of this research, in which it was proposed to evaluate the level of knowledge of a group of nursing students about this term. For them, a survey was applied to 110 students, from the second, third and fourth cycle of the career. According to the results obtained, and in order to improve nurse-patient relationships through assertive communication, possible solutions were proposed that were taken to expert consultation using the AHP and Vikor multi-criteria decision methods.
