Many times a contract is signed to install a new coolant filter system; but in reality, a new filter unit is what gets ordered instead of a system. A coolant system is more than one component, and a systems approach should be taken to assure that the correct component types are being considered. In most cases, the needed items are added later; but in some instances, too much unnecessary equipment is ordered at the beginning. The focus of the systems approach will be to step through the various portions of a comprehensive system in order to determine whether all the components are necessary for any given coolant control circumstance. The development of a check sheet for the coolant system decision making process will be also be discussed
