Efficient formation of stereocomplexes of poly(L-lactide) and poly(D-lactide) by terminal Diels-Alder coupling

摘要
Poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) and poly(D-lactide) (PDLA) having anthracene and maleimide terminals were prepared and mixed together to induce a terminal Duels-Alder reaction providing PLLA-PDLA diblock copolymers The resultant Diels-Alder adducts showed a sole melting peak of stereocomplex crystals around 220 degrees C without homochiral crystallization In addition to their highly improved stereocomplex formation, the adducts showed no decomposition due to the retro Diels-Alder reaction below the melting temperature of the stereocomplex crystals (C) 2010 Society of Chemical Industry
