Feminisms and cinema: women's representation critics

It presents a survey of the state of the art regarding film and gender. The research aims to systematize the knowledge produced around the representation of women in cinema, based on a bibliographic research, both nationally and internationally. The research results focused mainly on four points of criticism of the representation of women in cinema. First of all, the positioning of women as an object in the male contemplative gaze, with female domination and sexualization of women. Second, the centrality of heterosexual desire in cinema. Third, the underrepresentation of black, Asian and Latino. Finally, the stereotypical representation of LGBTQI population.
